Greetings reuse fans,
I wanted to reach out to everyone with a reminder that Give Big Pittsburgh is coming on Tuesday, December 1st. One of the goals of our campaign is to secure funds to rebuild our Goodwill training/job experience program. In 2019, this program had expanded to serving 9 participants with disabilities and other barriers to employment. When the pandemic hit, we reduced our full operating staff to just 5 people and completely suspended the Goodwill program.
Since 2013, this group of Goodwill clients has processed all of our doors and tile. Reuse is very labor intensive and these two processing activities are a great match for the skill sets of the clients Goodwill refers to our program. CJ compensates program participants who work part time (as required by program) at better than minimum wage. We relaunched the program in late June with COVID safety precautions but due to budget constraints we capped the program at 3 participants.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 during the Give Big Pittsburgh campaign to support this program. Historically we have used a combination of Big Pour revenue and some grant funds to achieve the program growth we experienced at the end of 2019. Due to our loss of sales revenue and having to cancel the Big Pour, this program is vulnerable and needs your support. Please visit our Give Big page and consider making a donation on December 1st. You can also make a contribution via our financial donation page at any time. Also, don’t forget to view the latest Lil’ Pour raffle prizes. All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets help to make up for the lost fundraiser revenue this year.
Give Big and support this life changing program,
Mike Gable
