Bringing Materials Here

Receiving hours for material drop off

Items for donation can only be dropped off during our regular business hours. Leaving materials anywhere on the premise outside of designated areas and times is considered dumping.

Donors are asked that materials are wiped down and clean prior to bringing them. We may decline materials for donation when necessary. Even if you have spoken to someone regarding what materials are acceptable, on-site staff have the final say upon inspection of your items for donation.

Don’t forget your receipt!

Construction Junction is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization

Donating materials is a direct contribution to support our mission of promoting conservation and the circular economy of increased building material reuse. Whichever way you choose to make your donation, we can provide a receipt. Donations may be eligible for tax deductions (click here for info from the IRS).

Sorry, we are unable to replace lost donation receipts!

Why donate?

Don’t pay to have usable building material buried in a big hole in the ground!

Remember, when you say “just throw it away”, there is no away.

Material reuse benefits everyone:

  • Save money on your disposal costs
  • Support an organization that keeps between 800 and 1,000 tons of usable building materials out of landfills every year
  • Help support the circular economy for used building materials by keeping CJ a well stocked resource for DIY projects
  • More quality, secondhand and surplus materials means that you can save money on your future renovation projects

Here’s what CJ can do for you:

  1. Pick up your usable building material free of charge if you have enough material.
  2. Give you a tax receipt so you can write off the value of the usable material you donate to Construction Junction.
  3. Help you get in touch with an appraiser if you believe your donation might exceed $5,000 (see IRS guidelines for assigning value to your donation pdf).

DIY: Donate-It-Yourselfers

Homeowners and DIY-ers!

Contact us if you find yourself answering YES to any of these questions:

Remodeling a kitchen or bath?

Doing a gut rehab or whole house demolition?

Moving and have lumber, tools, hardware, or other items you would rather not take with you?

Stuck with new building materials you paid for but can’t use?

Contractors / Business Owners

Arrange for free pickup of your used or surplus materials as a tax deductible donation!

Contact us if you have:

A remodeling or demo project of a building that will involve removing or upgrading doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, wood work, cabinets or other still usable materials?

Commercial or residential jobs with large amounts of still usable material (doors, windows, cabinets, trim, masonry, etc.) being removed and cluttering your job site?

A building material retail business with excess inventory clogging up your warehouse space?

Surplus or used building materials in a warehouse or storage facility that’s costing you money?

The task of getting rid of usable building materials, old inventory, furnishings or fixtures left behind by a previous tenant?

A deadline to vacate a building that is full of usable building materials, racking, shelving, fixtures or furnishings?

The US EPA has estimated that US companies generate 136 million tons of building-related construction and demolition waste per year, with 92% of that waste attributed to renovation and demolition. Construction Junction is working to be a solution to this growing problem. Nearly every contractor we meet has a story to tell about large quantities of good material from remodeling/renovation projects that has gone into the dumpster.

Ok, I want to donate. What’s next?

Make sure to check our What We Accept page for guidelines on acceptable materials for donation.
