NOTE: WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING DOCK DONATIONS ON MONDAYS!
Items for donation can only be dropped off during our regular business hours until 4:30pm. Leaving materials anywhere on the premise outside of designated areas and times is considered dumping.
Donors are asked that materials are wiped down and clean prior to bringing them. We may decline materials for donation when necessary. Even if you have spoken to someone regarding what materials are acceptable, on-site staff have the final say upon inspection of your items for donation.
CJ is offering expanded pickup service for residential donors!
Residential pickups will now be scheduled through a third-party company called ReSupply. These pickups will be charged a fee, but the service will pick up any item you want to donate (including things CJ does not accept like couches and clothing). The items targeted to CJ will get to us. Items we don’t accept will go to other nonprofits!
Commercial, institutional and large volume (i.e. Kitchen Sets and Estate Clean Out) donations will continue to be picked up at no charge by CJ’s truck and staff and subject to the same prescreening and approvals that have applied to building material donations since 1999. See services offered in chart below.
Contact our deconstruction department to discuss your needs and schedule a walk-through with our fully insured and licensed crew. We will survey your unoccupied residential, commercial, or institutional project to identify how we can help you keep material out of the landfill.
Donating materials is a direct contribution to support our mission of promoting conservation and the circular economy of increased building material reuse. Whichever way you choose to make your donation, we can provide a receipt. Donations may be eligible for tax deductions (click here for info from the IRS).
Remember, when you say “just throw it away”, there is no away.
The US EPA has estimated that US companies generate 136 million tons of building-related construction and demolition waste per year, with 92% of that waste attributed to renovation and demolition. Construction Junction is working to be a solution to this growing problem. Nearly every contractor we meet has a story to tell about large quantities of good material from remodeling/renovation projects that has gone into the dumpster.
The best way to contact our donations department is via email at donations@cjreuse.org. We also have an online material submission form, or you can call (412) 243-5025×11 to speak with our donations manager or leave a voicemail. Regular office hours are M-F, 7a-3:30p.
As a result of your request, we will determine if you have enough material to provide a free pick up or we may request you bring your item to us.
Pickups are typically scheduled about a week in advance. Schedule load does vary and spots can fill up quickly, so make sure to contact us as soon as possible in order to make sure we can accommodate your needs within a reasonable time frame.
All items for donation must be properly staged and accessible for our pickup crew prior to arrival. The donations manager will discuss acceptable locations for your materials upon scheduling your pickup.
Remember we reserve the right to refuse any material that does not meet our quality standards – please look at our What We Accept page for acceptance policies.
