Community Outreach

We’re more than just a store

Construction Junction has built a wealth of resources around our mission by providing opportunities to assist other nonprofits, volunteering and facility tours, attending collection events, and partnering with local businesses.

Here at Construction Junction, our function goes beyond our retail operation.

CJ ReGives Program

Sharing the benefits of reuse with local nonprofits

Started in 2011, the CJ ReGives program provides support to local social service, environmental and art focused nonprofits through the donation of building material and furniture. We are not able to support every request we receive, and preference is given to environmentally sustainable building projects, art installations, theater productions, community gardens and the material needs of social service organizations.

How to apply

Applications requesting items that we have a large stock of are generally more successful than applications for one of a kind, high value or premium items that we sell out of very quickly.

Please click here for the CJ ReGives application form.  Once completed please mail to the address below OR fax to 412-243-5026.

Volunteer Opportunities

Many hands make light work

Volunteers help us with extra cleaning and sorting of donated items, cleaning around the parking lot and green spaces, or assisting on the day of our annual Steel City Big Pour fall fundraiser.

Big Pour Event Crew
Beginning in 2007, our beer and food sampling event has been attended each year by over 2000 guests and 70+ vendors. The two 3-hour sessions also feature local artists and merchants, live music, and more. The money raised by the Big Pour is used to fill in operational funding gaps, provide budgetary assistance to our deconstruction and job training programs, invest in organizational expansion and on-site improvements.

CJ Facility Tours

Your school or organization can schedule a behind the scenes tour and learn more about material reuse, job training, and our recycling partners.

Most tours are about 30-45 minutes in length. When scheduling a tour of CJ, you might want to make a day of it and talk with our good friends at PCCR to see their facility as well. For more information, please email us here.

Collection Events

Construction Junction’s donation trucks are present at various community organized collection events in order to assist those who are interested in donating materials without having to travel to our Point Breeze location.
