Join us on the thrift carpet for “The Oscars of Reuse” featuring live music, art, food, drink & fun.
After 16 years of highlighting craft beer to support building material reuse, we are changing up our approach to CJ’s annual fundraiser. While we have certainly not given up on our love of craft beer, we decided it was time to show some love to the users and uses of reused building materials. So, to mark CJ’s 25th anniversary, we present for your continued sponsorship… “The Cee Jay Awards”, our version of “the Oscars” for best reuse projects in multiple categories! As with the real Oscars, statues will not only be awarded to the final projects, but also to the “behind the scenes” people who make the reuse magic happen–our material donors! Just a quick peak behind the scenes.

The program will include a “thrift carpet” entrance with encouragement to patrons to show us your best reuse fashion, followed by an opportunity to network, accompanied by drinks, appetizers (INCLUDED IN YOUR TICKET PRICE) and interaction with salvage art and more. The main awards event follows, hosted by energetic local comedian – Chrissy Costa! The Green Building Alliance and Pittsburgh AIA will be presenting awards to commercial projects using reclaimed materials or whole building reuse;
Next Pittsburgh will announce the winners of their residential reuse competition and sponsors and CJ staff will be presenting the best of reuse projects in 8+ categories and recognition of long-time material donors. A special reuse impact award will be presented in honor of long-time employee Joe Lamar-who passed away in May of 2023. The program will have live music provided by Pierce Dipner, singing, and playing the blues and Punk Pie Circus musical interludes on CJ ITEMS, and even commercials created in partnership with transformative theater company – Bricolage!
