Greetings reuse fans,
This will be a reuse grab bag kind of post where my intention is to provide a bit of an update as to how things are going here at CJ so far in 2022. So here’s where a few things are, as of Friday the 13th (yikes didn’t make that connection).
Donations
Given that over 80% of our budget is generated from retail, the support we receive from individuals, businesses, institutions, and governments in the form of materials is our lifeblood and our mission. So far in we have inventoried over 21,000 building components (doors, windows, etc) and donation value is 24% ahead of last year. We appreciate the broad community support for reuse!
E-commerce
Yes, we know every is tired of waiting for this to launch, but we have worked out the bugs, the malware and all the other hitches and glitches, and we will have item on the site late next week for customers to buy! The road has been long and we appreciate your patience.
Big Pour
There is some big news brewing on this front. We are continuing our event partnership with Rockwell Park, but this year we are taking it up a notch by holding the event in one of their repurposed buildings! This will allow CJ to keep the store upon on Big Pour weekend and create a robust celebration to mark the 15th anniversary of our only event fundraiser.
Save the date: Saturday, October 8th. Stay tuned for more details!
Deconstruction
Our crew is bringing in materials from our partnership with the City of Pittsburgh and we are supporting the deconstruction activity from our partners at the South Hilltop Men’s group.
We will have some future updates around building improvements but that is a post for another Friday.
