Job Openings

Construction Junction is an equal opportunity employer

Note that nothing in our job postings guarantees employment. All new hires are subject to passing pre-employment screening (drug/alcohol and background check), and providing 3 professional references

Now hiring for these positions

Retail Customer Service/Cashier - Part Time

We have openings for 32 or 24 or 16 hours per week to join our friendly, hardworking customer service team. Must include at least 1 weekend day.

For all members of the Retail department, the number one goal is customer service with appropriate COVID-19 safety measures. These positions consist of handling and organizing materials as they move from customers’ vehicles to various places in the store, and eventually to our pickup zone for buyers to collect, as well as giving our shoppers and donors great customer service, and being trained to operate the point-of-sale system. This involves heavy lifting.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of interests and abilities. A commitment to conservation is a must, as we are an environmental nonprofit focused on reuse. Candidates must be able to remain cheerful and motivated despite some challenging working conditions: you’ll be on your feet all day on our concrete floors; we have no air conditioning, so in summer we get really hot and in winter really cold (and we get wet if there’s a load out in the rain); and reuse means getting your hands dirty!

We are open 7 days a week, we provide CJ team tees, winter coats, and hoodies.

Pay is $11.00/hour. Paid time off for positions >20h/w. Paid holidays that fall on scheduled work days.

This is not a full job description. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Note that nothing in this job posting guarantees employment. All positions are subject to passing pre-employment screening and providing 3 professional references.

Retail-Warehouse Coordinator - Full Time

We are seeking a Tue-Sat full-time with benefits Coordinator to work with Retail and Warehouse managers in developing strategies for the handling and organization of materials as they move from donations through the warehouse and onto the retail sales floor, as well as leading staff in associate positions in these tasks and handling Manager on Duty responsibilities.

The coordinator will also be involved in developing and carrying out processes to keep ourselves, and our donors and customers safe from the risks posed by COVID-19.

The qualified candidate must have excellent customer service, some supervisory experience and the ability to create great working relationships with all other staff, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to repeatedly lift up to 80lbs. At least one weekend work day is required every week. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the construction/DIY and reuse/recycling/waste diversion industry, have excellent time management skills, previous warehouse experience, and be able to manage projects and a diverse staff with little to no supervision.

Pay is $14.00 per hour. After 90-day introductory period is completed satisfactorily, we offer a generous benefits package with modest employee required contribution, paid time off, Pittsburgh/Allegheny Country paid sick time off, and paid holidays. How to Apply

Follow these steps to assure that your application is complete and properly submitted

  • Please include your email address in your email or letter – that’s how we’ll usually contact candidates.
  • You must include a completed CJ Application Form and cover letter/email. Make sure you complete all of the form – past jobs and why you moved jobs – and make sure to list 3 professional references (NOT friends and family, the references must know your work). Use your letter to tell us why you’d be a great person for the job, and to share anything about your application form that you want us to know. If you can’t provide 3 recent professional references, use the letter to tell us why.
  • You may include your resumé, but it’s not a substitute for a completed application form.
  • We recommend that you review our website and/or come to our store to learn what we do before you apply!
  • Follow all directions – these general directions and any that are specific to a position.

Following the instructions provided above is the best way to get your application noticed

Please refrain from calling, emailing, or attempting to contact other CJ staff. Hiring takes about a month from the closing date for a position. We follow the same hiring process for all job openings. Applications submitted properly will be shared to the appropriate managers for the specific position you have applied for. If you try to contact multiple CJ staff about your application, this just takes up our time and makes things inefficient. Only providing us with your phone number or email address is insufficient and we won’t take any action if you don’t submit your application as requested.

You can submit your application 1 of 3 ways

1. Scan and email your application documents – INCLUDE your return email address in your email.

2. Come to the store in person during our regular hours to deliver your application documents in a sealed envelope addressed as below.

3. Mail completed application documents marked Confidential to:
