Greetings reuse fans,
We are finally climbing out of being buried by donations! With staffing levels in better shape than they have been since before early March, we will expand donation and in store shopping hours!
A bigger milestone for CJ is getting our Goodwill training program back up and running again—that will also happen next week. Like all relaunches/reopening in the time COVID, the program will be reduced in size and operation with the same precautions our staff is already following at CJ. The trainees will wear masks, their work stations will be appropriately distanced with easy access to hand sanitizer.
This group of trainees processes all of our doors and bands small quantities of ceramic tile and flooring (with a specialized machine). We usually have 5 to 6 trainees with two supervisors (at one point in 2019 we had 9 trainees!). Our relaunch will have a single supervisor and 3 trainees. On the days we are closed to the public (now Mondays and Tuesdays), this group will restock our retail floor’s tile and door section. These are two inventory items that require a lot of labor and it will be a huge boost to have the extra hands!
We began the Goodwill training program with a grant we received in 2013 and this group has played a key role in processing thousands of doors and creating thousands of bundles of tile ever since. We will continue to be cautious as we find a store schedule and a right sized labor force that helps us meet our mission while keeping everyone safe.
Thanks for wearing your mask,
Mike Gable
