We are 10 days out from the national Deconstruction and Reuse Conference that will be held over the 28th, 29th, and 30th at Phipps. We have reuse practitioners and advocates coming from across the United States and the EU to discuss policy, infrastructure and innovative programing to keep usable building material out of the landfill and circulating in our local economies, with emphasis on the social and environmental benefit that can be achieved by our work. And how we can do more of it! You can attend the conference either in half day increments, two days, or all three. Check out the link to the schedule here.
If you are a University of Pittsburgh Student, we have scholarships to cover part of the cost, so that you can attend for a special student rate of $50.00 – register by contacting me mgable@cjreuse.org.
There’s even more reuse going on in Pittsburgh – after you attend the conference you can take all that inspirational energy and… get your craft on at the Craft Off!
Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse, our neighbors and partners in reuse, are holding a fundraiser called Craftical. Craftical is an intense crafting challenge where participants have just 30 minutes to create something from a big bag of crafty goodies from Creative Reuse. This year’s theme is centered on appreciating the ocean and marine ecology. Everyone votes on their favorite creation and the top 3 finalists face off in a 5-minute craft blitz! The audience votes again, and then the first, second, and third place Ultimate Craftical Mega Stars are crowned and showered with incredible prizes!
Your support helps promote reuse and creativity all around Pittsburgh! Craftical is on Wednesday, Oct 30th, 7-9pm at the Ace Hotel in East Liberty. Competitor tickets are $25, spectator tickets are $20. Each ticket includes one free drink from the bar. Information and tickets here.
So what are you waiting for! Sign up for the conference, and get your tickets to Craftical!
