Upcoming Events: Tickets on sale for the 15th Anniversary Big Pour and Reuse Box Truck Documentary

August 19, 2022 /Posted byConstruction Junction / 3407

Greetings Reuse Fans,

It’s been a while! Two big things coming up next week…

15th Anniversary Big Pour tickets go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 23rd

Big Pour 2022 Birdstronaut Logo Header

The big excitement for this year is the venue, the event will take place in the Apollo Building in Rockwell Park. Yes, you have not likely heard of the building because it’s being renovated, or as we like to say adaptively reused, and the Big Pour has the honor of “breaking it in” as the first user in its restored state. It’s an inspiring space that will be filled with brewers, food, music and art/local vendors and a special introduction to the Ascend climbing facility (a Rockwell Park tenant).

Get your tickets to The Box Truck Film and see the stars of the film, Saturday, Aug. 27th

Reuse Box Truck Roadshow FlierOn Saturday August 27th CJ will host the actual Reuse Box Truck at our facility along with its two creators; filmmaker and reuse expert Alex Eaves and former HGTV host and designer Derek “Deek” Diedricksen. The film will be screened in the evening at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont! I was re-introduced to Alex through a notification of the release of Box Truck Film. I say re-introduced, because Alex lived in Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2007 and included CJ briefly in his first documentary film about reuse. Check it out reusefilm.com. The film also includes a segment on Mr. Smalls, which adaptively reused a church in Milvale and included CJ materials in its renovation! It turns out relationships are also circular, or maybe that’s just Pittsburgh.

I am excited about this film. I have not seen it yet. I am waiting for our screening. What impresses me is Alex’s commitment to a life style motivated by reuse. It is not an easy lifestyle and I find myself coming up short often, even when I am surrounded by reuse daily. The film documents Alex’s three years of living and traveling through the U.S. promoting the benefits of reuse through the vehicle of converting a 17-foot moving truck into a 98-square foot tiny house (pun intended)! We all need inspiration and recommitment to the cause of reuse. I guess I should say as far as reuse, Alex walks and drives the talk.

Join us on August 27th and get re-inspired to reuse.

Executive Director
