Last night, CJ helped to kick off the 2nd annual UpPrize competition. Last year, our inventory management system, Reuse Retail (RR), was a finalist in the competition.
If you have been in the store in the last 6 months (we hope you have been in multiple times), you’ll have noticed that we have come a long way with the system since last year. We have barcode pricing on many items, and we are able to list quantities of in-stock items on our website—made possible by RR!
The RR system is attracting attention from building material reuse stores around the country, and we have identified the first partner who is raising funds to onboard the system – the Rebuilding Center in Portland OR. The city of Portland just passed the most aggressive deconstruction ordinance in the country, requiring deconstruction of all buildings that are 100 years old and older!
This is great news for reuse, and it means that operations like the Rebuilding Center will need to handle, track and market the increased volume. That’s where RR comes in! It can help reuse nonprofits more efficiently bridge any gap that might occur between the supply of used building materials and demand, and to become more mainstream!
Stay tuned for more news as we work on RR!
