2020 marks our 23rd appearance as part of the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center!
This year’s booth features some of the most eye-catching salvaged and repurposed materials from CJ. In addition to the items on display, we wanted to make sure to share a few big pieces that we couldn’t make room for.
Gothic Style Stained Glass Partition Header
This early 1900s piece came out of a church in Pittsburgh’s East Hills and was salvaged by our deconstruction crew. The overall structure was truly massive and required some delicate deconstructing. You can view more pictures, dimensions and details of this piece here on our featured inventory page. Each arch top window that sat directly under the ornate header section features matching diamond pattern leaded came work with textured glass. They are priced individually and can be viewed here. (Our inventory pages are directly linked with our inventory system, so once the item sells, then that link will indicate as such.)
Quarter Sawn Oak Entryway w/ Cut Crystal Leaded Glass
2019 kept our deconstruction crew very busy, including another large undertaking south of Pittsburgh. St. Basil’s Parish, located in the Carrick neighborhood, was planning to demolish the rectory located next door the church. This entryway was removed from that building. The church itself was constructed in 1922, and while we don’t have an exact build date for the clergy house, we believe it to be from shortly thereafter. This solid, quarter-sawn, oak door and surround features many ornate details, including genuine beveled cut crystal leaded glass. Again, you can click here to head to the full inventory listing for this piece, with pricing and dimensions. Our deconstruction manager was approached with this salvage opportunity while our team was busy at work near by, reclaiming the still usable material from the shuttered St. Basil’s Catholic School.
We are very fortunate to have had booth space generously donated to us at the event, dating all the way back to 1997. Our first two appearances at the Home Show helped to spread the word in Pittsburgh that a new type of resource for material reuse would soon be available to the region. Our goal to support responsible and sustainable practices in the building industry and create a significant impact in material waste reduction has grown over 20 years of strong support. That support from generous donors and the Greater Pittsburgh community is central to our continued success. We could not do this without you!
