Greetings Reuse Fans!
There is a side of Construction Junction that is not often on display to the public, but it is always present, and that is the commitment of the organization’s volunteer Board of Directors. During this last year, CJ’s Board has added new members and undergone significant change. CJ’s long time Board President, Howard Wein, stepped down after more than a decade in the position. Under Howard’s leadership Construction Junction has grown significantly in many ways. Our sales, and therefore our volume of landfill diversion, have grown by over 180%. We began and have continued to expand our job training partnerships and community programming. We have a highly successful annual fundraiser, the Steel City Big Pour. And the Board of Directors has nearly doubled in size.
While Howard would be the first to say that CJ’s growth and accomplishments are the result of the dedication of our staff, the reality is that it is two-fold. All of the employees who work hard every day to make reuse happen have benefited from Howard’s leadership of the Board in making decisions that have been crucial to the organization’s growth and success. He remains involved with the Board of Directors, so I cannot yet say that he will be missed, but I can say thanks for your leadership and dedication to reuse… just like it says on the plaque!
Thanks for supporting reuse!

CJ is seeking reuse evangelists!
CJ is currently working on a large strategic planning process. In order to better present our mission to the public, we have different you can provide input. We have an online survey you can take here. It takes about 10-15 minutes to fill out. You’ll receive a 10% off coupon for your time and don’t forget to enter your email at the end to be entered to win a $100 CJ gift card! This weekend, (9.29-10.1) we will be doing some in-store interviews with both shoppers and donors. If you are planning a trip, we’d appreciate if you took the time to talk with us at a table across from the front register. Finally, for the truly dedicated among you, we are looking for shoppers and donors who would be interested in sitting down for an extensive interview about your experience with CJ and our reuse mission. This would be an hour+ deep dive interview that will be especially helpful to us for evolution as an organization. We are looking for people deeply committed to reuse and not timid about sharing with us how we can improve! Send an email to me – mgable@cjreuse.org – if you want to share your experience. Thank you!
