What a busy summer we had here at CJ! In the months of July and August we had amazing support in the store and in our donations levels. In fact, July was one of our busiest months for donations ever! Of course, add to those busy store months all of our Big Pour preparations and by the time September rolled around, we were truly burning the candle at both ends. But we wouldn’t have it any other way. Now that fall seems to have finally arrived (better late than never, right?), it’s the perfect time of year to donate your still usable materials!
As we enter the slower part of our season, we’d like to encourage you to donate materials you have been “putting off”. We appreciate any extra effort you can make to get your unneeded materials to us. Winter months bring the uncertainty of harsh weather and all of the hubbub of the holidays, so make sure to get in touch with our donations department regarding potential pickups for larger donations. If your donation qualifies, our donations manager, Greg, will be happy to arrange a time that works for you. Otherwise, our staff is here and available to assist with your drop off donations 7 days a week. Stop by and see us!
And as always we are looking for salvage opportunities for our Deconstruction crew. We are finishing up our deconstruction project of the solar house at CMU and are looking to schedule projects over the next few months. We are also currently salvaging an old house the owner is demolishing. She has invited CJ in and has even put off the demolition to ensure that as much time can be made to reclaim materials as possible! We know everyone can’t postpone work for salvage but it certainly makes diverting as much material from the landfill more impactful!
The generosity and responsibility of our supporters never ceases to amaze us. Donating your unneeded items makes a big impact to reduce waste and provide materials to those who can use them. If you can make our mission a priority for you this time of year, we will be deeply appreciative.
