Greetings Reuse Fans,
Despite the fact that the weather hasn’t been 100% supportive of our first annual Earth Month, we have appreciated your support so far! The “new to CJ” recycled landscaping products are being well received and we want to continue to support these local eco-friendly products. If you have some suggestions for other products that fit the local, recycled, econ-friendly description, please let us know about them. These products help support CJ’s reuse mission during this time of the year when we experience seasonal variation in sales.
Tomorrow, CJ will be participating in the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) Reuse Fest in the parking lot at Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville. It’s going to be a great event to visit! Our truck will be there so you can drop off your building materials. There will also be 11 other nonprofits that promote reuse, so you can load up your car with material that will benefit them too! From art supplies, to bikes, to medical surplus, this is one spot to reuse it all. Once you’ve made your donations, there will be plenty to see and enjoy – food trucks, crafts, and recycling artist, Gerry Florida, will have on display materials of her making, as well as furniture painted at CJ by the Studio Blue project!
In 2003, PRC and CJ partnered on the first “hard to recycle event” which was held in CJ’s parking lot. We collected “bad” paint, tires, propane tanks and stuff I no longer remember. That single event has grown into multiple annual events that are now much too large to hold at CJ, and happen throughout the year. The collections have also expanded beyond the “hard to recycle” to include household hazardous waste. CJ is proud to have played a role in helping PRC launch these important events that allow the residents of our region to act on their environmental values.
