Greetings Reuse Fans,
The next time you visit CJ we hope you will participate in our Round Up! No, this isn’t a novel new term to collect building materials and you don’t need any horseback riding skills to participate.
We are just asking for your change!
When you make your next purchase at CJ, our friendly cashiers will ask if you want to “round up for reuse.” We hope that you will respond by donating the change from your purchase to support our job employment and training partnership for Goodwill clients with disabilities.
Since 2013, any door that has arrived at CJ through our pick up service, store drop off or deconstruction with its hardware intact has been processed by our Goodwill team of trainees. All of the ceramic tile and the laminate flooring that is neatly banded on our retail floor has been sorted and processed by the same team. In 2017 this crew also assembled ceiling fans, which nearly always arrive at our dock in pieces.
In 2017 the Goodwill team had a role in processing over 5,000 doors and handled nearly 10,000 individual tiles. CJ pays for the work done by trainees, and Goodwill supports the team’s trained supervisors. The strength of the program, based on feedback from our Goodwill partners, is that the team is integrated into CJ operations. The group interacts with CJ staff, helps to manage the stocking of the tile section and attends CJ’s social events.
CJ’s sales revenue does not fully support this important program so we are asking you to “round up” to help keep it strong and growing.
