Greetings Reuse Fans,
Ok, first BIG ALERT: next Saturday, March 17th from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, the smash Netflix series Mindhunter will be at CJ’s conducting a casting call! Stop by and let them take your mug shot.
CJ has a long history of working with theater, television and movies! Whether we are providing set materials for local theater productions like Bricolage and Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater Company, or movies like Jack Reacher, or the aforementioned Mindhunter series, as well as many other productions that have involved Lawrenceville-based 31st Street Studios. CJ has played a supporting role in some great entertainment produced or performed in our amazing city. The film industry in Pittsburgh has been a great partner for reuse, both as customers and donors, and we truly appreciate their patronage.
A scene from the Russell Crowe movie Fathers and Daughters was shot in the building in the spring of 2014. Sadly neither Aaron Paul nor Amanda Seyfried made any purchases (Mr. Crowe was not in that scene in case you were wondering), however when Diane Keaton was in town filming Love the Coopers, she stopped in and picked up some reclaimed lumber. We respected her privacy so we don’t have any photos of her purchase, but she created a lot of buzz in the store! We like to say “you never know what you’ll find in the store”, perhaps we might also say “you never know whom you might find”…
Hey, but it not just the big productions that we like to work with; through our ReGives program we have provided materials to grade school and high school theater productions. The silver lining in working with theater groups and film is that nearly all that stuff comes back to CJ when the cast of the show takes a final bow or heads back to Hollywood.
And after all that’s what reuse is all about; passing materials on when you are done with them, for their next starring role!
