Greetings Reuse Fans,
Thanks to everyone who participated in our annual fundraiser, the Steel City Big Pour. It was another very successful event, though we don’t have the final fundraising numbers yet.
We appreciate everyone’s patience who is not a Big Pour patron and has to put their shopping on hold. You can see below how much it costs to operate Construction Junction on a daily basis. While much of that expense is covered by our retail operation, we rely on our annual fundraiser as a key element to close the remaining funding gap. These sources – retail revenue, grant funding, and the Big Pour – are essential to keep CJ operating!
As we continue our work to expand material reuse in Pittsburgh and beyond, we have some high volume donations on the horizon that will stretch our current resources.
Theater seats
We are going to have a significant amount of auditorium seating coming from the University of Pittsburgh. Let us know if you or another organization with whom you work may be in need of auditorium seating. We can work out some volume pricing. We are also tracking this material for LEED points for PITT.
Office Furniture
We are working with a downtown office building to find nonprofit “homes” for five floors of office furniture. If you are a nonprofit, or know of a nonprofit, in need of desks, chairs, and/or conference tables please get in contact with me at mgable@cjreuse.org and we can work with you to assist with a much large amount of material than CJ can typically accept.
Finding effective partnerships and facilitating these large-scale reuse projects is essential to building on what CJ has already accomplished.
