Greetings Reuse Fans,
CJ Community Outreach Coordinator Terry, here. We’ve been out supporting reuse in the Pittsburgh area all month, continuing all through June. From giving tours of Construction Junction, to spreading the word at events around the area, to collection events, our Community Outreach connects you with reuse throughout the Pittsburgh area.
Collection events are a great opportunity to get your materials to Construction Junction without driving all the way down to the store. Tomorrow, Saturday May 19th, we will be in Hampton Township for their 11th annual RecycleRama from 9am – noon. RecycleRama is a community collection event where various agencies will be on hand to take all sorts of materials to help Hampton residents finish their spring cleaning. We will be there collecting reusable building materials. To find out what organizations are taking part and what you can donate at, click here.
On June 2nd, we will be at the Moon Township collection event – if yinz live out by the airport, you can check out their event here. Our thanks to Pine Township and the Pennsylvania Resources Council and all the generous donors we met at their collection events this spring. We love volunteers, and on Sunday we will be hosting a group from a local church who are going to help get our grounds back into spiffy shape. The winter always seems to be hard on our yard, and just like you we need to do some cleaning up. If you have a volunteer group that would like to help us sometime, please give us a shout at outreach@cjreuse.org, as we always seem to have something to “Redd Up” or sort. And with the Steel City Big Pour coming up in SeptemBeer there will be even more volunteer opportunities for your group, organization, or collection of friends.
And last but certainly not least – it’s “tour season” at CJ. Did you know your class or organization can get a behind the scenes tour of our operations? It’s true! We have hosted all sorts of school groups, everything from elementary through college, scout troops, service organizations, and even out of town dignitaries from as far away as Uzbekistan. We love to show folks around and tell the CJ story – we are more than just a retail store, and tours are great way to learn about all that we do. Ahhh…. Just got paged to go out front, my next tour is here, so I gotta run. Hopefully we will see you out and about in the coming weeks! Or better yet, we’ll hear from you soon so we can get you involved in reuse, here at CJ or in your community!
