Greetings Reuse Fans,
Thanks to all of CJ’s supporters who attended our 20th anniversary recognition day on Tuesday (Nov. 12th). Special thanks to Allegheny Council members, Anita Prizio (District 3) and Paul Kline (District 11), who joined us and read a proclamation from the Allegheny County Council recognizing Construction Junction’s work over the last 20 years of promoting reuse of building materials.
Many of our partner organizations joined our celebrations – Goodwill, Pennsylvania Resources Council, Studio Blue, Appliance Warehouse, Global Links, Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse, and Society for Contemporary Craft, as well as our good friend Handy Andy .
The 20th anniversary raffle is continuing through the 17th, including the chance to win a $200.00 CJ gift card, a 20th anniversary T-shirt, a freezer donated from Appliance Warehouse, Big Pour tickets, or a bottle cap table from Handmade Arcade. Every ticket sold supports all the work we do to promote reuse and our partnerships/training programs with other nonprofits.
Speaking of our training programs, we are expanding our Goodwill training program to include sorting and display of hardware. As we are certain you have noticed, CJ receives a tremendous amount of miscellaneous hardware. It is the most challenging item we receive as far as making it a valuable experience for all of our shoppers. We know that CJ has customers who love to sort through the bins and drawers of loose hardware, but we also know we have shoppers who don’t have time to rummage and want a quicker process to determine if we have the item they are looking for…
This is where you can help! If you have a passion for hardware and have some ideas to make our hardware section more organized please email me: mgable@cjreuse.org
Your ideas will not only help make our hardware section more “shopable,” but it will also help us create work activities for our Goodwill colleagues with disabilities.
