Greetings Reuse Fans,
Sunday, November 12 marks the 18th anniversary of CJ opening its doors in Pittsburgh. I have shared a number of times over the years that on that first day CJ had 5 sales for $185.00. Being there on our opening day in a ramshackle warehouse under the 62nd Street bridge, I could not have imagined what CJ would look like in its late teens!

I was in a meeting yesterday discussing how CJ can better serve architects and their clients who want to promote reuse when someone said to me, “I cannot imagine Pittsburgh without CJ.” I am not certain someone could have paid the CJ organization, our staff and our board a higher compliment for the hard work and effort that has been put in to grow this mission over the last 18 years. Even more importantly, your commitment to reuse continues to make CJ relevant and impactful.
While CJ will not be doing any big celebrations for our 18th (20 will be the big one), the best gift you can give us is your continued support as a shopper, donor or reuse evangelist. Perhaps you do all three! We can’t thank you enough.

Also, an important reminder that November 15th is America Recycles Day. This event draws attention to our relationship to waste and how we make less of it. Take the pledge to recycle and look at the data that shows our nation’s progress and the work still left to do.
Happy Birthday CJ!
